I completed by degree in Kinesiology at the University of Winnipeg. In 2010, I completed the national certification exam. I have worked in a multi-disciplinary clinical setting since certification.
As an athletic therapist, I am a first responder and while my every day practice does not include field work, I still love it. Working with the community football and high school football leagues providing game day coverage and covering judo tournaments add that little bit of diversity to my practice.
Growing up in rural Manitoba sport was a big part of my life. Fastball, synchronized skating, and basketball filled my days. While I, fortunately, haven’t suffered any major injuries, I did seek help for pains associated with growing. When I started to explore options for post secondary education, I knew that I wanted to work in healthcare and to be able to help people. Athletic Therapy allowed me the opportunity to do both of these and be involved in sport.
Outside the clinic I am a Mom to three amazing humans, and a wife to a pretty fantastic guy. We fill our days with football, soccer, cheerleading, and swimming. I enjoy camping, spending time with my family, and am passionate about the promotion of athletic therapy. I have volunteered on the Manitoba Athletic Therapists Association board of directors for the last 10 years and currently hold the role of president.
Regardless of your fitness, where you work, or how you see yourself athletic therapy is for you and I would love to help facilitate your return to living your best life.
